Development

Perform wind and soil investigation surveys; undertake environmental assessments; secure necessary permits; perform wind farm design, procure main components & secure financing

Construction
3 – 4 years

Fabrication & installation of wind turbines; construction of substations, cables, and other infrastructure; testing and commissioning of offshore wind farm

Operation & maintenance
30 years

Continuous monitoring to ensure efficient and safe operation of the offshore wind farm; perform preventive and corrective maintenance of the assets (if any)

Decommissioning
1-2 years

Work with authorities for permits and time to decommission the project; remove the project components, Materials; return the sea and land areas to the original state

Candidates for administrative or support roles have a higher degree of flexibility from transition from various other sectors

Training Recommendations

There are many different certifications or other training requirements that may be needed to work offshore wind. Some only take several hours or a few days to complete, while others require long-term commitment such as university qualifications.
